TCS' commitment to environment stems from the Tata Group’s abiding concern for environment and society. TCS is into Information Technology (IT) consulting business and services, which by its nature of operation has low impact on the environment. TCS will strive to provide a healthy work environment to all its employees and conduct environment friendly business at all its offices. To achieve these goals, TCS has published this Environmental Policy. In line with its continuous improvement and experience certainty process initiative, TCS will continuously enhance its Environmental Policy, which encompasses air, water, natural resources, people and their interrelation. This policy was formalized in March 2003 and is subsequently reviewed in January 2007.

This policy driven by the Senior Management aims at improving management by setting higher standards, and reducing pollution by minimizing the waste generation from business operations and recycling programmes for obsolete IT hardware. The policy continues to focus on environment conservation as an essential element of TCS’ business philosophy and infrastructure. The main objectives of the policy are:

• Respect Health, Safety, and Environment issues of employees, clients, vendors and local community.
• The Company will set, monitor, review objectives and targets related to environment management.
• TCS will always remain conscious of the impact of its operations on the environment and have a commitment to continual improvement, dispose waste in an environment friendly manner for prevention of pollution.
• TCS is committed to comply with all current applicable environmental and related regulations and where appropriate, exceed the prescribed standards.
• TCS will assess and seek to minimize the impact of its business activities on environment by optimizing energy and power consumption and the use of consumables and hardware through recycling or reuse.
• TCS will strive to continually improve Environment Management System and performance and periodically review and communicate to all concerned through appropriate communication channels.
• Our Environmental Policy will be communicated to all our employees, business associates and made available to the public on request.
