TCS Launches Dedicated Japan Offshore Delivery Center

Kolkata identified as primary hub to service Japanese market

Kolkata (India) & Yokohama (Japan), 18th October, 2006

Tata Consultancy Services, Asia's largest IT services and consulting organization, announced the launch of its dedicated Japan off-shore development centre (J-ODC) at its facilities at Salt Lake, Kolkata. The Kolkata-based J-ODC will be focal point for TCS' off-shore operations for Japan.

Leveraging TCS' pioneering global Network Delivery Model, the Kolkata J-ODC will be the hub and work together with other satellite J-ODCs in Shanghai and Hangzhou (China) as well as other global development centers in India to execute engagements for Japanese customers. The J-ODC will act as the knowledge hub for Japan and all specific initiatives in terms of language skills, training, certifications, cultural initiatives as well as knowledge management systems will be driven from the J-ODC and shared across the global network.

N. Chandrasekaran, Executive Vice-President and Global Head, Sales and Operations said: "Given the unique aspects of doing business with Japan, such as language, culture and business rules, TCS has invested in a Japan-specific centre to better encapsulate the geo-specific knowledge of this key market." He added: "Not only will the J-ODC help TCS leverage the Network Delivery Model to service Japanese customers but also lead to improved process rigour, delivery and customer delight."
