The Customer:

SAS, the flag carrier of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, is the largest airline in Scandinavia. A founder member of the Star Alliance Network, SAS operates over 1,100 daily flights to nearly 136 destinations in Scandinavia, Europe, the US, and Asia, and carried more than 28 million passengers in 2013. SAS' vision is to be valued for excellence by all stakeholders.

Business Scenario:

SAS wanted to streamline, unify, automate and standardize its disparate finance and accounting systems and processes across its business units and operating geographies with a globally accessible and integrated solution, enablng to meet its business objectives. 

TCS’ Solution:

TCS equipped SAS with a fully hosted, cloud-based Finance and Accounting Platform, a unified and global solution for enterprise wide finance operations encompassing Account Payables, Account Receivables, General Accounting, Asset Accounting, Bank Reconciliation, Collections, and Cash.

TCS deployed the solution across 25 countries (in Europe, Asia, and America) and eight subsidiaries within a record time of 10 months. This solution is currently used by more than 2,600 users and processes, with volumes of 400,000 invoices per year. In addition, the F&A Platform, SAS legacy systems, and HR systems were integrated for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), fuel management, ticketing, and catalog management. Standard rule-based processes for interfaces were implemented to ensure seamless data transfers. TCS helped SAS align the ledger structure with the legal reporting structure; standardize business processes across business units and geographies; and comply with local Government and Tax Reporting. The automation of existing cash flow process and integration with e-Posten (Swedish Post) helped to reduce the cycle time by 20 percent in sending invoices, statements, and payment reminders to customers.

TCS was solely responsible for end-to-end services, ranging from infrastructure, application design, deployment, and related support, as well as program management and change management, for all business units across all geographies.
