TCS enables smooth network operations for the Commonwealth Games 2010

New Delhi hosted the 2010 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XIX Commonwealth Games, between October 3-14, 2010. A total of 6,081 athletes from 71 Commonwealth nations and dependencies competed in 21 sports and 272 events. This was the largest international multi-sport event staged in India, eclipsing the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982.

The Organizing Committee sought to utilize the most relevant and superior technological platforms and methodologies in order to run the event in a smooth and efficient manner. It appointed TCS as the Technology Integrator (TI) to deploy IT infrastructure and network across venues (competition, non-competition and training). As the TI, TCS was responsible for the IT infrastructure and network design, and the deployment of primary and secondary data centers across all competition, non-competition and training venues.

In spite of several challenges, such as the constantly changing requirements, extremely short timelines and multiple vendors, TCS was able to ensure a faultless 24/7 availability of its IT infrastructure including network operations across all venues. In addition, TCS also supplied network equipment for the games.
