Woolworths is Australia’s leading retail giant and the largest chain in the country. TCS and Woolworths have been working together for over 15 years. In this video, Tim Batten, Head of IT Strategy, Woolworths Australia discusses how TCS helped Woolworths improve efficiency and stability of their online websites. He also talks about the role TCS played to help Woolworths maintain their leadership position in the market.
TCS delivered results that exceeded Woolworths’ expectations. In addition to building the site capacity and capabilities, it also increased site resilience. Tim says “We weren’t expecting such level of outcome for our online system. The performance of our online site has substantially improved. Their work in automation of building the site has significantly reduced the time taken to create more capacity on the site. What took weeks now takes less than an hour”.
TCS’ commitment to Woolworths as a long term partner is very evident from their constant focus on creating business values for Woolworths. Tim says “Partnership was the key theme in this project. Working together collaboratively was fabulous and the most outstanding part in the delivery”. He also talks about TCS’ flexibility to adapt to new project plans that helped Woolworths deliver better outcome.
According to Tim, upgrade of their middleware called Jboss was a major deployment project that involved a lot of automation, where previously done manual tasks were replaced with technology. He talks about how TCS worked on making their website the best in market evident by the Dan Murphy’s and the Big W websites that won best online site in Australia in their divisions after this project was completed. “Being a leader is important to Woolworth so we turned to our partners to help maintain that leadership in the market.”
