Having established successful large operations in North America, Europe and Asia over 4 decades, TCS forayed into Latin America in 2002, setting up a modest operation with 15 people based out of the Uruguayan capital city of Montevideo. With this seed, a subsidiary company called TCS Iberoamerica was born, expanding rapidly into a major operation spanning the Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries of Latin America and Europe.
As this unit of TCS celebrates 5 years of its founding and coincidentally its 5000th local employee, what has been achieved in this region in such a short span of time speaks for itself – a 5000 strong well trained work force, over 150 regional and global clients across 14 countries, 7 Global Delivery Centers including Latin America’s 1st CMMI® level 5 center and some of the largest and most successful technology services and outsourcing engagements in the region.

As TCS continues to expand in Latin America, Spain and Portugal, its impact on the information technology industry in this region can be summed up in 3 words: Growth, Innovation and Employment:
Growth
Helping Latin American companies become more profitable and competitive.
Posting over 100% growth year on year, TCS Iberoamerica has expanded operations to 14 countries, accounting for over 4% of TCS’ worldwide revenues. Largely Organic, other than the acquisition of a Chilean BPO firm in 2005, the growth that TCS has achieved stands at leadership levels in the region reflecting the changing nature of IT needs towards an increasing demand for quality of services and complex large outsourcing. The spread and scale of TCS’ operations and service offerings is now allowing clients to combine all their technology needs under a single partner, which can bring to bear its Global Network Delivery Model™ of 70 centers across the world to seamlessly provide the highest quality of services, at the fastest possible pace and lowest cost. This in turn has helped our clients become more profitable.
Innovation
Bringing the world’s best and latest practices to the region
Armed with its motto of “Experience Certainty” reflecting its spirit of delivery excellence and unflinching commitment to creating results, TCS has rapidly captured marketshare in this region. Its CMMI® level 5 certified centers (the first in this part of the world) are raising the bar for quality of services offered here, allowing clients to demand and secure higher value of results for their IT investments. TCS is also bringing to bear its full services capabilities to create innovative business models for companies like Banco Pichincha, which have embraced strategic outsourcing to redefine their core business and are emerging as stronger and more competitive from the process.
Employment
The power of job creation
A recently IT industry study found that for every job created in the industry, 3 additional jobs were created in ancillary businesses like food services, hotels, travel, retail, computer peripherals etc. that catered to this industry, making the point that investing in this industry is good for the overall economy of any country, especially emerging economies where job creation is a critical need. TCS has created over 5000 direct jobs for local citizens in Latin America, Spain & Portugal, which has not only helped expand the economies of their countries but also enhanced the knowledge and competitiveness of their labor forces.
