Bayer recognizes TCS as an exceptional supplier

Recognizing Tata Consultancy Services as an exceptional supplier, Bayer awarded TCS for the successful implementation of a carve-out model that helped the German life sciences major drive timebound divestitures for a recent organizational restructuring.

The award was received by Vikas Jain, Vice President and Head, Life Sciences Business, TCS and Saurabh Agarwal (Segment Head), at the Bayer Supplier Day held in Duesseldorf, Germany, on February 14th, 2019.

A bi-annual event for Bayer’s key strategic suppliers, the Bayer Supplier Day focusses on topics such as innovation, sustainability and risk management, and how the collaboration with suppliers can contribute to the overall success of Bayer.

“The success of this industry-first model is a demonstration of our Business 4.0 capabilities including automation, agile and cloud,” said Vikas Jain. “A cloud-first approach combined with TCS’ location-independent agile model helped us address the frequently changing requirements in near real time. TCS is honored to be part of this business transformation at Bayer.”

Taking a business oriented, cloud-first approach, TCS defined the end to end business processes, set up a cloud-based solution environment for the vast majority of the divested businesses, including the complete stack of infrastructure, IT applications and enabling business process services, all to be transferred to the acquirer at closing.

“It was a project unprecedented in its approach and its global scale and scope for Bayer and the market,” said Daniel Hartert, Head of Business Services and CIO of the Bayer Group. “The integrated team of Bayer and TCS made this project a real success.”
