Hi, I'm Daniel and this is how the studio makes a video. When a client brings us a video project, they always arrive with at least an inkling of what they want. The first thing we do is take that inkling and translate it into a screen. The screenplay format not only gives you a bird's eye view of your project, for example, how many actors you'll need, how many locations you'll need, and your estimated runtime, It's also the most efficient way to communicate your vision and put a moving image in the reader's mind. When your video calls for something that doesn't exist yet, like a mail delivering robot buggy from the future, the best way to put that on screen is with a 3D object. That means someone will have to design that object from scratch. Not just how it looks, but also how it works. That's where having someone like Callum comes in handy. He has a background in industrial design, and crafting elegant, functional forms is one of his very favorite things to do. Naturally, every piece of futuristic technology needs a futuristic interface it carries. UIS are intuitive, adaptive, and she makes them really, really fast. That's helpful when she's also pulling double duty as her main actor. Also pulling double duty is this room which we use as a vocal boost, and our garage where we keep our grip equipment, lights and cameras. Speaking of cameras, it's always wise to pick the right tool for the right job. The 5D Mark Three is great for stills, the X5R is great for stabilized motion. And our main workhorse, the C300 Mark two is fantastic for green screen. When you're shooting on location, however, gear only gets you halfway there. The other half takes a lot of concentration, a lot of teamwork, and a lot of energy. But if you put in the work, it doesn't have to take a lot of time. We storyboard every single shot and plan every last cut, all before we even turn on the camera. What does take time is editing, rendering, compositing. And animate. But no matter how grueling it gets, it's all worth it when you finally play the movie for an audience. It only lasts for a couple of minutes, but in those minutes they get it. Videos can convey an enormous amount of information, but they can also convey feel. They not only show you a world that doesn't exist yet, they make you excited about getting. Thank you for watching.
