La La la. La La la. If only I had a companion that could pull me out of a bout of stress and anxiety every time wondering what I'm talking about. Let's find out. We are at TRDDC, Pune. TCS researchers have designed a unique and interactive companion. This companion uses artificial intelligence to detect stress and anxiety. Not only that, this companion also comes up with real time solutions to beat stress. You want to meet the team behind the technology? Come with me. We call it companion because it is always with you. It's a mobile app. Novelty in terms of design makes our app very unique as compared to many other apps. There's a huge drop off rate when it comes to people using mental health apps. Like a lot of people just drop off in the first week. Imagine there's a dropout rate of something like 50% in the first three days. So when we have to go up against this, we'll have to come up with a very exciting interface. So we went with gamification and games, and the idea of games and companion kind of opened up a huge set of possibilities. One of the games in the app, so we call it Laugh Out Loud. When you open this particular game, you see a wilted flower on the screen and your goal of the game is to fully bloom the flower and that is done through laughter. So as you laugh out loud, the mobile microphone detects your laughter and the flower starts blooming right and you keep on laughing till the point that the flower is fully bloomed. That is the end state of the game. Now what this does is creates a very novel engagement where laughter is being used to control the game, right? And in turn it is also providing you a kind of a laughter therapy, which itself is a stress relief intervention. Journaling is one of the very important features of any mental health application. So we have seen different counselors, different professionals recommended to people. So we wanted definitely that feature inside the app. And what we want to do is use the potential of AI and then kind of transform it into something to a whole new level. When you meet a professional and then say that this is what you've journaled, it gives a richer data to the professional. Also the technology is going to kind of make this whole process of assessing much more accurate for the counselor as well. And this along with gamification again kind of improves the engagement, which kind of is the standout feature of the app behind the app lies. The whole platform which is meant to collect data, anonymize it. Follow all the regulations such as GDPR, etc., and also analyze the data, come up with insights and so on. We have designers, we have game designers, we have simulation experts, we have AI ML people who work on artificial intelligence, people who are good at text mining, good at taking emotions from the way you speak, when from the way you text behavioral scientists and behavioral economists. So there is a huge set of people and then that makes up for a very rich. Outcome that we try to generate. Breathin. Breathe out. BREATHE IN Breathe out. We're live. At TCS, we are leveraging technology to change the landscape of how mental healthcare works. There are many more such interesting stories. Stay tuned to TCS Stories to know more.
