This is the story of freedom. The freedom to explore the world. The freedom to shine bright. The freedom to grow. The freedom to fly. The freedom to learn. The freedom to try. The freedom to dream. The freedom to create a better future. The story of progress of India is the story of TCS. Hello and welcome. I'm Kritika Saxena and you are watching the 4th episode of TCS Studios presents Transforming India. The story of progress of India is the story of TCS now in the last 75 years of India's independence. We as Indians have become global citizens. We have the freedom to fly to any location of the world and we can do that and plan that at the click of a button, quite literally. Now, the Director General of Civil Aviation is a regulator that has been monitoring the Civil Aviation sector. The growth of the Civil Aviation industry is why we have the freedom to fly to any location, like I said at the click of a button to talk about this transformation story, to talk about how. Take can enable making our lives easier and can actually contribute to the growth of the aviation sector is integral to the growth of the aviation sector. We have a very special panel lined up to talk about one of the most interesting digital transformation stories that we have seen in the last two or three decades. Joining us now is Neeraj Berry, eGCA Program Director between 2019 and 2020, Sushil Jain, Business Sub Unit Head of Public Services for TCS and a special guest joining in. Today is Captain Riyadh Palia, pilot and trainer at a leading Indian airline. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for joining in. So I'm going to start with you, Neeraj. Neeraj, can you first let's start with decoding the eGCA story for us? Thank you, Kritika. I must first say that it's a privilege to be on your show. And if I talk about eGCA? They provide. Rules and regulation for the Civil Aviation world. And short compliance through safety oversight and. Through their offering of 300 odd services across 12 directorates. If I visualize what I could see when we started with this program, the. There was a huge physical store which kept all the files which archived all the files. Anytime a medical assessment had to be done by the pilot in any other location, the file from headquarter would move physically move to that location and would be brought back. 2019 eGCA. Embarked on this journey with TCS as the digital transformation partner, setting up a tall order. 300 services to be digitized. About 3,00,00,000 documents to be scanned and digitized. Not only that, the help desk and the chatbot and all those features to ease the operations to be set up. Six months we were supposed to go live with our first set of services after embarking on this journey, that is where TCS brought its key differentiator, its digital platform which offered the needed kick start. Did you have laid the foundation, the digital foundation? It brought with it the. Simple components which on which eGCA platform was built. Saving on time, bringing in a tried and tested proven platform. So this is what typically summarizes the eGCA story for our viewers. That's a beautiful Sabri Yadira. So cafeterias coming to you then you've seen this transformation take effect into daily lives. You've seen it actually happening in your industry. So help us understand a little. You've been very closely associated with the eGCA, you know, platform. Help us understand how this has changed the aviation industry and how this transformation has effectively changed all our lives. YEAH That that's absolutely right. KRITIKA I think first of all, thanks for having me on. I think Neeraj beautifully summarized the entire process of what's happened over over I think three years in just a couple of minutes. Our transformation as an aviation industry, Kritika has been, has moved forward in leaps and bounds over the last three years. Myself, I've been flying for over 15 years now and honestly the eGCA is what we were hoping for, you know, right from the beginning. We wanted all this to be digital, we wanted things to be easy and didn't want to go through all those steps that needed just mentioned. So definitely must commend the DGCA for taking that step as well. I feel you know the eGCA platform is a perfect combination of the Make in India scheme, Digital India, ease of doing business, you know it's a perfect combination of all these three and we've seen decades of paper based processes, manual processes. Going digital in just a couple of years moving forward, it's going to be even better. Just in these last couple of years, we've seen reduction in our turnaround times from the time that we apply for something, maybe a renewal or an initial document, we've seen a reduction and minimize personal interaction that's required. We don't have to physically be present at headquarters or different regional offices as well. There's an increase in efficiency. Better transparency and you know, an important byproduct of digitalization is of course a reduction of errors and this leads to enhanced safety and has Neeraj said, you know, that's the foundation that aviation is built on. I think that's the best way I can put how it's changed for us in a short, in a very small way. Well said, very well said. So let's dive a little further into this and I do want to come back to everybody on the steps ahead and what more can be done. Sushil, coming to you then tell us a little bit about the technology behind the platform and how know sometimes when the transformation actually happens. It seems so simple, but there are a lot of complex steps involved in the process. So take us through that. Yeah. And good morning, kritika and thanks a lot for having me out today to talk about one of my favorite accounts which is eGCA and as rightly said by you and Neraj and Captain Palia, this has transformed the Indian Civil Aviation industry per se, right. So Kritika, I mean eGCA uses latest digital technologies to provide a seamless services to its stakeholders. So just to simplify the entire thing, there is an external channel which is available on web and mobile to all the external customers like Captain Palia. It enabled DCS services to be available from anywhere now at any time from any device. Then there is a back end channel which is available for DCC officials to act on the request and act on the services which come to them right. It has an inbuilt sophisticated workflow, case management and document management in built into it. There are no more files which move from one table to another. I mean, as we all know. I mean we are. You would have seen this famous Vitali file, right? That moves in the old paper era. It's a thing of past. It's all now digital. At the click of a button there is a help desk which is either enabled and as well as an agent which supports and provides services and any queries that any user might have. Last but not the least. My favorite is Akash which is an Artificial Artificial intelligent virtual conversational agent which is available 24 by 7 to resolve the common queries from any users in an uninterrupted manner. And this entire platform kritika is hosted in a public cloud which.
