Pitch for Purpose from Digital Empowers offers mission-driven startups the chance to win $15,000 to support their world-changing ideas.
Technology is the great equalizer – and providing access to it can change lives. That’s why Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation are excited to launch the Pitch for Purpose competition in collaboration with SEED SPOT- which seeks to recognize and support the next generation of purpose-driven innovators and entrepreneurs.
At TCS, our vision is to empower communities by connecting people to opportunities in the digital economy – thereby building equitable, sustainable, and inclusive pathways for youth, women, and marginalized groups. Our focus on digital being a great enabler has
resulted in hugely impactful programs including a number focused on entrepreneurship - such as BridgeIT and Digital Impact Square (DiSQ) Both programs – foster entrepreneurship and innovation through support systems like expert mentoring and technology transformations that can help maximize their reach and scale.
This is why TCS has joined forces with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation (USCCF) to launch the Digital Empowers Pitch for Purpose competition in the United States – the search for mission-driven startups whose founders leverage emerging technology and innovation to address social and environmental challenges.
That mission aligns strongly with the purpose of TCS and USSCF, and SEED SPOT were invited as a natural choice of collaborator to support the competition, given the amount of expertise they have in nurturing startups like those the competition is hopi.
In our lifetime, emerging technologies have transformed the way we work, and startups have been behind some of the biggest disruptions. Companies like Facebook, Amazon, and Tesla have forever changed the face of the planet; and all started as tiny startups with huge aspirations.
The goal of the Pitch for Purpose competition is to recognize and support startups which might end up creating the next generation of world-changing ideas. By focusing on technology-based startups and requiring the company’s goal to be aligned with delivering social good, the aim is to leapfrog the development of ideas and innovations and enable us to enjoy tomorrow’s innovations today – whether supporting health and wellness, building pathways to opportunity, sustainability and the environment, or anything else that addresses the world’s problems through technology.
All Pitch for Purpose applicants will gain access to resources to help build their startup – while six dynamic entrepreneurs will be specially selected to compete in a live-pitch event for a chance to win $15,000 at the Digital Empowers National Summit taking place virtually on October 7-8.
Finalists will also receive access to additional in-kind business services, mentorship, and direct capital to take their startup to the next level - and perhaps one day change the world.
The rules to enter are simple. Applicants need to nominate startups that are headquartered in the United States, have raised less than $1M in capital, and have a social mission behind what it is they do.
