Million Women Mentors (MWM)
Building Gender Equity in STEM with Million Women Mentors
Despite rapid economic growth and the continued development of new technology, the world is facing a skills crisis – with an estimated 2.4 million U.S. jobs in STEM occupations going unfilled ever year.
As a founder of Million Women Mentors (MWM), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) works with cross-sector partners to close the skills, gender, and wage gap by providing women with valuable mentorship opportunities and a digital platform built by TCS with which to share resources, best practices, and provide guidance to organizations seeking to address their own equality and inclusion challenges.
In partnership with MWM, there have been more than 2.3 Million mentoring pledges for girls & women in STEM and more than 1 Million mentoring engagements completed.
MWM celebrated its 5th anniversary with a milestone of 2.3 million mentoring pledges and over 1 million mentoring engagements completed for girls and women in STEM. At the World Economic Forum 2020 Annual Meeting in Davos, TCS joined Johnson & Johnson, PepsiCo, S&P Global and Deloitte to launch MWM India. By bringing the unique model of MWM to India, the hope is to empower a whole new generation of female STEM talent to fill the ever-growing number of roles desperate for their training and experience.
“Unique partnerships such as the one between TCS and Million Women Mentors are critical in empowering women and girls with skills to thrive and be successful in the new world of work,” said Surya Kant, President of TCS North America, UK, and Europe. “I applaud MWM’s effort to take their pioneering solution to India and I hope more partners and countries will join this effort and realize the vision of a prosperous future for women and girls in the new economy.”
