A near zero-debt company, TCS funds its growth through cash raised from operations.


To successfully execute its sustainability strategy, TCS keeps building capacity by investing in both people and business initiatives. With near zero debt, the company funds its growth entirely through cash generated from operations. As of March 31, 2017, TCS’ total shareholder equity stood at $13,619 million, of which retained earnings made up $14,738 million. At the time, we had cash and cash equivalent of $555 million, including bank deposits of $66 million.

In FY17, TCS generated net cash of $4,023 million from operations. In addition, we have short-term working capital facilities with various commercial banks. In FY16, we paid a total dividend of $0.7: a pay-out ratio of 42% of our consolidated profits under IFRS (excluding special dividend). TCS' market capitalization as of March 31, 2017 was $73.87 billion.
