How can Europe lead in a changing world?

Global leaders explore factors that could help Europe strengthen its presence in a fast-moving world

Making Sense of Change

Over the past two decades, the European Business Summit (EBS) has served as a lodestar for business trends, challenges, and opportunities in the European Union. Since 2017, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has supported this premier event as a strategic partner, driving conversations about digital technologies, platforms, and transformations.

For the 2018 edition of the EBS, more than 1,500 attendees got together in Brussels to address over 44 sessions the question ‘How Can Europe Lead in a Changing World?’. While TCS COO N. Ganapathy Subramaniam and CTO K. Ananth Krishnan answered this question by highlighting innovations that are helping drive transformation, other dignitaries put down their thoughts in a series of essays.

Through these essays, global leaders have highlighted the change potential the European region holds, and the factors helping it establish leadership in diverse fields. The answers to the question of European leadership in the 21st century come from across the spectrum – from technology to governance, and from business to international politics.

Covering everything from climate change and sustainability to artificial intelligence and inclusive innovation, these essays offer concrete solutions to propel Europe on its path to world leadership. Among them is a piece by Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran, who illustrates through examples how private-public partnerships – supported by technology – can lead to better civic services and healthcare delivery
