St.Pauls retain Blore crown

St.Paul's English School - Harikiran and Siddharth Srivatsa

Sri Kumaran Children Home - Abhishek Krishna and Barghav Cavale

A fantastic venue, at the IT Capital of India, was almost bursting at its seams with students occupying every possible inch of space available at the hall. The TCS IT Wiz is a huge draw for all schools as they wait for the event to unfold year after year. A tough prelim underlined the high standards that the ace quizmaster was setting for this city as he went about his task with clinical precision.

The finalists were:

Sri Kumaran Children Home - Abhishek Krishna and Barghav Cavale
Frank Anthony Public School - N Vedanth and Bharath VK
St.Pauls English School - Harikiran and Siddharth Srivatsa
DPS (East) - Ashrith Shetty and Padmanabhan Murli
NPS (Indiranagar) - Shamgopal Karthik and Akhil Siddharth
Vidyaniketan (Hebbal) - Kiran MS and Nithean Kumaar

The early rounds of the quiz did not yield too many clues on who would win the quiz except that St. Pauls were the defending champions and all the others were more than keen to dislodge them. The rounds progressed quickly but the teams were all scoring in turns and nothing really separated anyone.

On the round about TCS, the duo from St. Pauls managed two strikes that gave them a slender edge and helped them get past Kumarans, while NPS was right there battling their way to the top as well.

It came down to the final question and backed by some gutsy half chances that kept them in the hunt, the Paulites managed to crack the final answer and clinch the quiz. In a tie breaker that followed between Kumarans and NPS, the former emerged the runner up.

The guest of honour, Lokesh Rahul, emerging cricket sensation from Karnataka, described the event as “similar to a T-20 match in terms of tension and excitement” along with Mr. Nagaraj Ijari, Head TCS Bangalore Operations.
