"The quiz is back to where it all began in 1999". The same venue, almost the same date pointed quizmaster Pickbrain as he commenced the quiz. He also shared that a few years ago at same venue former President, Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam had been part of a TCS school quiz and had appreciated such initiatives.
Once the prelim unfolded the children were busy racking their brains and cracking posers that were well crafted to tease and test them. The six schools that made it to the final were:
Bishop Cotton Boys School - Padmanabhan and Shravan Sunil
National Public School (K) - Ankit and Vikram
Presidency School (NLO) - AnirudhPatil and Ranjit
National Public School (HSR) - VedanthSriram and Sahil Garg
Sri Kumaran PU College - Sudharshan and Supreeth
National Public School (I) - Shyamgopal and Akhil
The final was an animation based software created byBlackboard Animations, a Bangalore based company, that made the quiz even more entertaining and lively. The intensity of the final was quite high as the teams on stage were all competitive and well prepared.
The first couple of rounds did not reveal much as most teams scored early and made it look like an even battle. It was only with the onset of the buzzers that the duo of Shyamgopal and Akhil moved ahead of the rest with really confident answers.
The final rounds saw them clinch the title without a fuss while the battle for the second place was absorbing. Three teams, Sri Kumaran, Presidency and National Public (NPS-K) were almost on the same score with one final question to go. As Pickbrain fired the final salvo, the NPS duo went for the buzzer and claimed the runner up title.
The guest of honour Mr. Pratap Reddy (IPS) Additional Commissioner of Police, Bangalore, advised the students to leverage on the strength of technology. A former Senior Director at Nasscom on Cyber Security himself, the tech savvy cop, humorously remarked, "I thought I knew a thing or two about technology before I came into this quiz, but I could not answer anything that you could". Mr. NagarajIjari, the Head of TCS Bangalore and Mr. N. G. Subramaniam, Chairman, Tata Elxsi were also present on the occasion.
