The enthusiasm was infectious and energy palpable as more than 700 students turned up to witness the regional finals of the popular TCS IT Wiz 2017 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall on Thursday.

After five rounds, class 11students Pranav Prabhu and Aryan Patel of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Learning Leadership Academy (PSBB LLA) were declared winners of the regional quiz finals. The champs walked away with gift vouchers worth Rs 60,000, a trophy and medals.

The runners-up -Muktaka Joshipura and Rohan Kapoor from NPS-Indiranagar -were presented with gift vouchers worth Rs 40,000 along with a trophy and medals. The quiz focused on automation, contextual knowledge and machine learning, apart from an exclusive round on TCS.

Referring to the level of enthusiasm among Bengaluru participants, quizmaster Giri `Pickbrain' Balasubramaniam, said, “The students play the IT quiz as though it is their Wimbledon. As a city, Bengaluru is tech savvy. We are in a part of the country that's moving faster compared to other regions. These children have understood that knowledge is very important and they value it.” The volley of answers took Giri too by surprise.

IPS officer Bhaskar Rao, AGD, KSRP, said the audience was lucky to be able to watch such a contest. “By the time these students graduate, India will be a great country,” he said. “Bengaluru is setting a benchmark in learning quizzing,” said Nagaraj Ijari, VP and head, TCS Bangalore Operations.
