Within the onset of Industry 4.0 wave and latest technology advances, TCS’ Pharma Manufacturing services group is working with several customers in their transformational journey of Manufacturing 4.0. Towards this, TCS chooses to share thoughts on one of the most enquired Manufacturing 4.0 strategy use case - Transformation of Technology Transfer using s88 based Global Recipe management.
Test protocols and the recipe are the key elements of the Tech Transfer operations. Lack of S88 standard adoption in Process Development Lab systems, digital recipe definitions, harmonized master data, varied taxonomy across labs, PILOT and commercial manufacturing plants are main causes of lengthy tech transfers. Often the onus lies with the manufacturing sites to understand and transform Recipe definitions from the preceding group to author the site and Master recipe for their production execution. With the digital edge and innovative use of Process PLM coupled with LES and MES integration, it is becoming easy to shift the recipe life cycle management to left (Process Development labs) thus leveraging modular and structured s88 aligned recipe development building blocks in fast forwarding commercial manufacturing upon new drug introduction.
How have other customers successfully expedited technology transfer?
