About Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals is the Jaipur franchise cricket team that represents the state of Rajasthan in the Indian Premier League. The Rajasthan Royals team embodies the spirit of the Rajasthani people – of valour, courage and honour both on and off the field. The Rajasthan Royals have become a very well known brand across the cricketing world, after their historic win in the inaugural IPL in 2008.
With their home base in Jaipur, India’s well known ‘Pink City’, they have built a strong support base in the UK (where the ownership is based), Australia (where their captain and coach – Shane Warne is from), and now wish to leverage their strong South African connections to attract fans here during this season’s IPL. The connections are significant through players Graeme Smith, Morne Morkel and Tyron Henderson, and through management, with Jeremy Snape (South Africa Performance Coach) a key member of the coaching team. Shilpa Shetty, the world famous Bollywood star, and partner Raj Kundra recently bought a 12% stake in the franchise, and are helping the team develop its off field merchandising plans, working closely with their partners.
