Currently prevailing manual, paper-based inspection reporting systems slow down the DVIR compliance process and result in data inaccuracies. Although some companies have started using mobile apps, the overall process is largely manual, with drivers having to key in entries for various parameters. Our solution interacts with sensors embedded in vehicles, and collects and maps the various data points to the DVIR checklist. This information gets auto-populated on the mobile device of the driver who can use it to complete the DVIR form. It also allows the driver to record additional remarks and situation-specific details, click pictures of visible defects, attach them to the form, e-sign the report, and submit it electronically. A copy of the DVIR is retained on the driver’s mobile for audits.
Our solution can be extended to facilitate predictive analytics by feeding sensor data into an analytics engine. This allows fleet managers to assess the health of the vehicles and schedule pre-emptive maintenance.
