Delhi Public School - Anshul Roy and Abhay Venkatesh
Anand Vidya Vihar - Ms. Tanvi Ranjankrishna Aiyer and Ms. Vidhi Nimish Shah
The day started with a drizzle, that turned into a steady shower as the morning progressed. Despite the rains and puddles of water trying to stop them, close to a 1000 students took part in the Ahmedabad edition of the quiz, many even travelling from Vadodara. Pickbrain started the quiz with a crisp but tough set of 20 questions and that led to the finalists.
The finalists were:
St. Kabir Ahmedabad - Anish Saxena and Bharg Mankodi
Anand Vidya Vihar Vadodara - Ms.Tanvi Aiyer and Ms.Vidhi Shah
DPS Bopal - Abhay Venkatesh and Anshul Roy
St. Kabir Vadodara - Harshil Agrawal and Harshit Maloni
DPS Harni Vadodara - Vraj Patel and Shashanka Indri
Navrachana Vidyani Vidyalaya Vadodara - Dhiman Swadia and Shivam Khasla
The final was an absolutely riveting one with the girls from Anand Vidyavihar taking an initial lead and playing with great confidence. The duo from DPS Bopal did not get their grip on the quiz early on but as the buzzers came into play they started progressing as well.
It was in the TCS round that the boys from St. Kabir, Vadodara made progress and caught up with Anand Vidyavihar and DPS, and it seemed like a three way battle moving into the final rounds of the quiz.
From here it was the strategy that the DPS boys deployed by out-thinking the teams on tactical buzzer play, which got them to the finish line just ahead of the girls, who sure knew many answers but could not get the buzzers to go down in time.
The guest of honour, Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, the Hon. Cabinet Minister for Education Science and Technology, Govt of Gujarat described the event as “innovative and inspiring” and said “ As a former teacher I am always happy to connect with my pupils”, as he gave away prizes along with Mr. Hashit Kazi, Head TCS, Gujarat.
