Energy Management and GHG Emissions Reduction
SBTi Near-Term Targets: TCS commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 90% by FY 2030 from a FY 2016 base year; TCS also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 emissions 35% by FY 2034 from a FY 2020 base year.

Initiatives include maintenance of rainwater harvesting structures, groundwater recharging structures and recharge pits, installation of water efficient fixtures, maintenance of sewage treatment plant and water recycling infrastructure, installation of digital water meters and its calibration, water quality monitoring, and water treatment plants.

Target: To achieve Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL) for all TCS campuses by 2030 with the objective of maximizing recovery and reducing the waste going to landfill.
Initiatives include installation of recycled plastic benches in recreational areas, installation of Organic Waste Converters, and disposal of non-recyclable/ unsegregated waste through waste to energy plant at few campuses.

Tata Group’s Project Aalingana emphasises the need to manage company’s impacts and dependencies on biodiversity and enhance their performance on biodiversity conservation. TCS Nature and Biodiversity policy outlines TCS’ commitment and plan of action to conserve, preserve and enhance nature and biodiversity.
The company became carbon neutral across Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in North America, UK and Ireland (except Diligenta), Europe, Asia Pacific (excluding Japan), Latin America, and Middle East & Africa in FY 2023. Please find the Carbon Neutrality certificates for our overseas geographies here.
