St. Kabir, Vadodara are national champs of TCS IT Wiz 2018

The stage was set for the national finale of India’s biggest inter-school quizzing extravaganza, after two tight semi-finals led to the six finalists.

The National Finals witnessed a strongly contested participation from six exceptional, enthusiastic and acumen driven teams which were drawn from 2 semifinals from 12 cities across India, battling it out for the championship title. The Quiz also displayed “real-time scoring,” which helped the audience to keep a track of the nail-biting competition.

The final started with ace quizmaster Pickbrain at his best, his volley of questions stumping the teams on a few occasions while their answers stumped him on a few as well. The battle saw all the teams do well in the early half with Loyola School, Jamshedpur and St. Pau's, Bengaluru showing a lot of promise as St. Judes, Kotagiri went into an early lead.

The round on TCS was a 'tipping point' as quizmaster Pickbrain called it, with the team from St. Kabir racing ahead of the rest with some outstanding answers. They held their lead and nerve and after five fantastic rounds, got the better of St. Judes from Kotagiri and Loyola Jamshedpur to win the national title.The winning team won themselves e-vouchers worth '150,000 for digital shopping, gold medal and the champion trophy for the school, while the runners up Yazhini Shanmugam and Harsh Agarwal from St. Judes, Kotagiri received '100,000 worth e-vouchers for digital shopping, silver medals, and a trophy for the school.

The guest of honour Rajesh Gopinathan, CEO & MD, Tata Consultancy Services handed over the prizes to the winners. “It is inspiring to see so many students from across India adopting new age technologies because that is the path of the IT future and it is a space that has powered our country over the last many decades and it’s a path that will power us again.”

He urged the students to "Adopt Digital" as the way forward to the future.
