In today’s era, employee experience is one of the most critical components that affects all aspects in a company, such as workplace culture, productivity, retention and so on. Employee experience has been rated as one of the top challenges for HR in Deloitte’s Global Human Capital Trends Report 2019, with 84 percent of the respondents highlighting its growing importance. Unfriendly employee experience leads to high employee attrition rate. On the other hand, a differentiated and authentic employee experience makes it easier for companies to attract and retain top talent in a competitive marketplace.

The journey of HR transformation, which began from an uninteresting system and end-to-end employee life cycle management, has now reached a stage where we need to privilege the employees with an effortless and serene experience of an aesthetically beautiful next-gen HRMS interface.

Such an HR management application for next generation employee experience should include:

  • Cloud-based interactive interface
  • Single standardized design for multiple tenants, domains, customers
  • Minimalist and flexible design approach for seamless and frictionless online experience (serves as an added advantage)

Some of the key features of next-gen HRMS for flexible, agile and intelligent employee experience would be:

Widget-based User Interface – The interactive, widget-based UX framework to provide users with multiple widget groups or individual widgets for seamless navigation. This would reduce user’s think time and navigation clicks as all the key features will be available up-front.

Smart Notifications – AI to enable system-generated intelligent notifications and reminders to be sent to users for suggestive actions. It could also involve machine learning, which uses users’ past behavior and clickstream analysis for important reminders and recommendations.

Act Now – Worklist action items for immediate attention by user. Shows the number of activities pending with users so that they can estimate the time required to complete the activities and plan accordingly.

Dashboards – Charts and KPIs to provide summarized views for key transactions and functions based on user role. The consolidated graphical representation keeps the users up-to date with all functions taking place in the system and increases transparency.

Advanced Search and Navigation Features – Functionality to do as-soon-as-you-type search on menus and users of application to enhance the efficiency and productivity.

Personalization - Highly personalized widget-based UI cards library to suit individual user and role needs. Users can choose to display and sequence widgets according to their own preference. Also, option for user and administration to MIY (Manage-it-yourself) the skin color, banners, wallpapers, announcements, etc. on various pages.

Chatbot – An AI-based chatbot to provide 24*7 online service to reduce the human effort. It can simulate a conversation with the user in natural language through messaging as well as voice modulation. The users can type in their queries and the respective chatbot will answer the queries related to HR.

So, you can see how an intelligent and agile HRMS provides cognitive and holistic user experience, better performance and design sophistication. It increases employee satisfaction by providing integrated view of multiple components so that user can have a common platform to know important aspects of the software. This makes the navigation and discovery easy, keeping the information current and relevant. This HRMS also provides sophisticated and blended interfaces, which are different from traditionally dysfunctional and cluttered pages.

This also meets the current market demand by broadening user base through focusing on multi- domain users. The features of HR management application would appeal to a broad set of users yet will allow mass personalization. Focusing on the employee experience will deliver a range of benefits to the organization as happy employees lead to content customers.
