Servers can vent and cool themselves but wouldn't be described as warm-blooded beings. The average CPU increases by 1 °F for every degree that the ambient temperature rises. In other words, there is a direct connection between the rack equipment and data center temperature.

When does this become a problem? Depending on the equipment, most CPUs are susceptible to melting if a server is left to run for a few minutes at temperatures between 86 and 95 °F.
