Tata Consultancy Services’ Program Creates New IT Jobs for Fresh Graduates and will be Conducted in Conjunction with Facilitation Partner, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation
KUALA LUMPUR, January 20, 2020: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, has launched its Initial Learning Program (ILP) in Malaysia, together with facilitation partner Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), aimed at training fresh graduates and creating employment opportunities for them in the company.
The Malaysian government’s Critical Skills Monitoring Committee’s latest Critical Occupations List has indicated a shortage of skilled candidates in the areas of information and communications technology, computer network, and cyber security. ILP is a two-month-long learning and hands-on training program for fresh graduates that plugs the skills gap. It focuses on developing technology skills such as coding, data analytics and software or application development, as well as soft skills such as problem solving, creativity and communication skills. ILP pass-outs will be eligible to join TCS as full-time employees.
“We recognize the skills mismatch in the Malaysian job market, particularly in highly skilled digital technical roles.” said Jeevan Rajoo, Country Head, TCS Malaysia.“Together with our university partners, TCS is taking the lead in addressing this gap by providing training and hands-on experience to fresh graduates, with the goal of producing a Malaysian workforce that is IR 4.0 ready.”
In the first phase of the ILP program, TCS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with APU and Taylor’s University. Graduates from selected faculties in these universities can apply for the program through their university. On passing the stringent selection process, they will be eligible for ILP, where they will undergo face-to-face, online and self-study sessions that are based on agile methodologies.
“TCS’ Initial Learning Program has had excellent results worldwide in developing individuals who are industry and role-ready. We are proud to be the facilitating partner for its introduction in Malaysia,” said Datuk Parmjit Singh, CEO, APU.
