This panel explored how manufacturers could transition from vulnerable, reactive security models to future ready cyber resilience. Industry leaders examined approaches to securing connected factories, managing IT OT convergence risks, and defending AI enabled operations, while embedding zero trust strategies that protected digital manufacturing ecosystems and supported innovation at scale.

Thioks session explored how embedding AI into every layer of manufacturing—from robots and AGVs to drives, PLCs, and sensors—created factories that could sense, think, act, and learn. It highlighted AI’s role in enabling learning factories, responsive supply chains, and self validating quality processes. The session concluded with a strategic roadmap for enterprise wide AI adoption, outlining how manufacturers could scale intelligence responsibly and define the next era of smart, resilient, and continuously improving manufacturing.

In this session, industry leaders gathered at Hannover Messe to discuss software-defined intelligence and its role in digitally integrated manufacturing. The conversation explored how intelligence has moved beyond centralized dashboards into engineering platforms, machines, robots, and control systems, enabling real time sensing, decision making, and autonomous operations. The panel highlighted that virtual twins and model-based platform approaches were fundamental to driving this shift, with design and simulation moving upstream to optimize outcomes from the start. In this 70th TCS Forum session, technology and industry leaders convened to discuss physical AI in manufacturing, focusing on the transition from experimentation to scaled production outcomes. The conversation spanned three critical dimensions: moving from POCs and pilots to real world results, defining the right operating model for physical AI, and establishing responsible governance frameworks. The panel stressed that reliability exceeding 98%, security, operational simplicity, and clear return on investment were non-negotiable prerequisites for scaling on the shop floor. Leaders further emphasized the importance of end-to-end process orchestration, agentic AI interoperability, evolving regulatory compliance, and cross-partner accountability as foundational pillars for manufacturers serious about scaling physical AI sustainably.

Anupam Singhal, President Manufacturing at TCS, stressed that manufacturers had long struggled with fragmented data across ERP, MES, and PLM systems, and that converting this data into actionable intelligence was the critical imperative.

Sanjay Brahmawar, CEO of QAD, argued that the industry needed to transition from systems of record to systems of action, with agentic AI embedded directly into shop floor workflows. Moderated by David Segal (TCS), leaders from PTC, Microsoft, and NVIDIA discussed how to unify fragmented data through simulation, AI physics, and intelligent agents powered by accelerated infrastructure, enabling enhanced engineering workflows and generative design.

In this session, industry leaders explored the strategy, execution, and best practices behind scaling AI in manufacturing. The panel unpacked a striking McKinsey finding that while 78% of organizations use AI in some form, only 30% see tangible business outcomes. The discussion highlighted the shift from traditional systems of record toward agentic AI platforms that execute entire workflows, with some manufacturers reporting up to 80-90% time savings. The leaders outlined a five-level AI maturity journey, progressing from supervised AI through agentic systems to fully autonomous manufacturing, emphasizing that realizing true value required combining domain knowledge with the right technology and a disciplined, strategic approach.

Siemens and its leading GSI partners—Deloitte, Capgemini, TCS, and Accenture—shared perspectives on driving innovation through collaboration and delivering meaningful customer impact at scale.

This session explored how the convergence of AI native automation, robotics, physical AI, and real time industrial intelligence was accelerating the shift toward autonomous manufacturing. It highlighted how production ready AI enabled adaptive decision making, self optimizing operations, and improved throughput, while interoperable data ecosystems drove connected, traceable, and energy efficient factories.

The Battery Life Continuum highlighted how AI driven insight, sustainability principles, regulatory forces—such as the EU Battery Regulation and the Inflation Reduction Act—and cross sector collaboration could reshape the energy, mobility, and industrial ecosystem. It presented a forward looking blueprint for how nations, industries, and innovators could jointly rethink manufacturing, design, reuse, and recycling to maximize performance, minimize carbon footprint, and accelerate the transition to a truly regenerative energy future.

The TCS Manufacturing Cyber Threat Outlook 2026 launched at Hannover Messe outlined how accelerating digitalization, IT OT convergence, and AI enabled operations had fundamentally reshaped cyber risk in manufacturing. It emphasized that cyber threats were no longer limited to IT systems but directly endangered production continuity, safety, and intellectual property. The report highlighted industrialized cybercrime, identity based attacks, and supply chain vulnerabilities as key risks. It argued that cyber resilience had become a business imperative, not a technical function, and stressed embedding security into operations. AI driven threat detection, zero trust architectures, and cross ecosystem collaboration were identified as critical enablers for future ready manufacturing resilience.

AI-Powered Factory of the Future: Digital Twin Manufacturing: AI-powered Digital Twin solutions, built on the NVIDIA tech stack, simulate end to end manufacturing processes—from warehousing to asset management—to optimize layouts, workflows, and operations. By combining 3D scenario modeling with AI-driven analytics, manufacturers can boost productivity, enhance quality, and drive resilient, data led decision-making.

2. Autonomous Shopfloor: AI Control Tower for Plant Operations: This demo highlighted how Copilot and Agentic AI empowered plant line managers with real-time insights, early warnings, and conversational “what if” analysis to improve decision making and asset uptime. By integrating with MES and ERP systems, it delivered actionable guidance on issues like quality and material shortages and can trigger coordinated actions to resolve them.

3. AI Vision: Intelligent Quality Inspection in Action: This demo showed how AI‑powered vision supports quality inspectors by detecting subtle seat wrinkles in real time and providing clear visual cues with full defect traceability. It accelerates inspection accuracy, reduces OEM rejections and rework, and reinforces premium brand quality while preserving human judgment.

Physical AI: Autonomous Industrial Inspection with Robotics: This demo presented a unified PhysicalAI and AgenticAI workflow where a quadruped robot autonomously inspects industrial equipment, detects anomalies, and performs on edge diagnosis. Validated issues trigger agentic workflows that classify defects, perform root cause reasoning, and generate prioritized ServiceNow tickets with visual evidence through seamless enterprise integration.

5. Agentic Enterprise: AI Agents Transforming Manufacturing Sales & Service: TCS mForce on Salesforce Agentforce uses autonomous AI agents to streamline inquiry to order, service, and field operations—accelerating quotes, automating case resolution, guiding technicians, and improving asset uptime. This unified commercial experience boosts productivity, reduces cost to serve, and drives revenue growth through faster cycles, intelligent routing, and proactive service.

6. AI powered Factory of the Future: This demo presented an AI driven overview of the Pharma OSD manufacturing line, showcasing use case prototypes that address real world challenges such as batch scheduling inefficiencies, equipment failures, yield losses, sterility deviations, and operator anomalies—enhancing quality, reliability, throughput, and regulatory compliance through adaptive intelligence.

AI powered Connected Digital Enterprise: This demo showed how enterprises can unify engineering, manufacturing, and service through AI driven digital threads and digital twins, enabling real time visibility, closed loop decisions, and continuous learning—empowering faster responses to change, improved efficiency and quality, and scalable, future ready digital operations.
