Using Next-Gen TOMS to cater to the demands of a 5G-driven future

Until recently, players in the telecom ecosystem used Telecom Order Management Systems (TOMS) that focused on delivering services/products with fundamental capabilities. However, the dawn of 5G necessitates much more from order management systems. This is primarily owing to high speed and low latency – 5G’s key benefits – playing a pivotal role in redefining the way telecom products will be used and purchased.

To keep pace with the growing markets and stay on top of their game, communications service providers are amplifying the functionalities of their TOMS. Some of these capabilities are:

•    Provisioning dynamic network slicing and activation in real time

•    Resource and service orchestration of 5G network slices

•    Artificial Intelligence-led turnkey service management

In such a market scenario, one needs to understand the impact of 5G before crafting a quintessential business strategy.
