Press Release

TCS Named as One of the World’s Top BPO Providers by The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals

1st September, 2006

The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) has recognized Tata Consultancy Services as one of the world's best BPO outsourcing service providers for 2006.

Commenting on the achievement, Michael F. Corbett, executive director of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), said, "Being selected to the Top BPO Providers list for 2006 is a tremendous achievement that speaks to TCS's position as one of the industry's most valuable partners. As the global standard-setting organization and advocate for the outsourcing profession, IAOP is pleased to recognize TCS with this prestigious award."

One of the factors that helped TCS win the IAOP accolade is the work it is doing with Pearl Group Ltd., a UK-based life insurance firm with two million customers and $55 billion (£30 billion) of assets. Under a recently signed 12-year, $847 million agreement, a newly formed TCS subsidiary has taken over administration of the Pearl Group's four million policies, will provide finance and accounting services, and manage the company's day-to-day human resources activities. For starters, TCS has assumed the Pearl Group's back-office operations.

This is an example of the way that companies globally are now viewing BPO, if it is reliable, cost-effective and standardized, as a strategic component to ongoing business success.

N. Chandrasekaran, executive vice president at Tata Consultancy Services said, "The integration of business processes and the technologies that support them allows companies to digitize their operations. This in turn enables globalization, where work can be matched to the availability of talented people, wherever they are. By creating standardised platforms for doing work and then charging clients on a per-unit basis, providers like TCS can create what is essentially a reliable, cost-effective business process utility that our customers can plug into."

The Top BPO Providers for 2006, a sub-list of The Global Outsourcing 100, recognizes the world"s top BPO service providers and is based on applications received and evaluated by an independent panel of judges.
