Evaluation Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute
Mumbai, 13th March, 2006
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: TCS.BO, NSE: TCS.NI), the world's leading IT services and consulting firm, today announced that it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the challengers quadrant for the 'Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence Implementation Services, North America, 2006' report.
"The Business Intelligence practice is one of the fastest growing segments of our business," said Dr. Santosh Mohanty, Global Head Business Intelligence Practice, TCS. "Our industry focused BI solutions, technology agnostic approach, proven track record, combined with our Global Delivery Model, have all contributed to extremely high levels of customer satisfaction. We believe this report is further evidence of what our customers tell us every day, that TCS is a valued partner and solution provider."
TCS has global development centers in virtually every continent and today has thirty-three centers in ten countries including Australia, Hungary, Uruguay, Canada, Japan, and throughout the U.S. and India. TCS also has a number of BI centers of excellence in various countries including Latin America, Australia, China, and Hungary.
According to Gartner, business intelligence (BI) projects are having a greater impact at higher levels of the enterprise as organizations seek to achieve higher business value from the use and analysis of their information. This more strategic focus means that clients need to address:
-
The strategic business impact and value of BI
-
A significantly broader user base (for example, business workers at all levels, salespeople, partners and customers, customer service, and IT operations)
-
The breadth of their BI portfolio, which needs to expand to encompass a wider range of performance management applications, both at the corporate and the operational level
The report states that inclusion of consulting and systems integration (CSI) service providers in this Magic Quadrant resulted from meeting several criteria. In particular, Gartner focused on companies offering services in North America. The criteria are designed to select CSI companies that can match the increasing complexity of BI projects that clients undertake. The market for BI consulting and integration services is a fragmented market when looking for just technology staffing services. Companies evaluated here have the capabilities not just for staffing but also to manage BI programs.
