The recently concluded (July 10-13) OpenText Enterprise World event at Toronto, Canada had more than 5000 attendees from 56 countries and 400 partners gather to participate in 230 sessions, share best practices, and watch product demonstrations. Heres my brief in-person account of the event highlights.
TCS, a Diamond sponsor of this flagship event by OpenText, was also the exclusive sponsor of the closing night celebrations on July 13, featuring the band Walk off the Earth. TCS received good brand visibility both during the event and the closing night celebrations, with a footfall of few thousand people. Read a press release about our sponsorship here.
As part of the sponsorship, we were given an opportunity to meet and greet the key note speaker Wayne Gretzky, well known Canadian ice hockey professional and introduce the band during the event closing celebrations. We also received exclusive seating privileges for our customers and TCS attendees.
OpenText CEO Mark J Barrenecheas key note address threw light on many emerging trends such as Robotics the evolution from Mainframe to smart phone to IOT to Robots, Internet of Things, Internet of Money, Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Eating the World, and new business models. OpenText has just launched its new artificial intelligence platform Magellan, which combines open source machine learning with advanced analytics to acquire, merge, manage, and analyze big data, to hasten decision making. This was a key point of interest among many attendees at the event.
We were invited to share two customer success stories and we presented on the topics:
- Transforming customer experience for the digital future
Ramkumar Padmanabhan, our Digital Content and Experience Management CoE leader shared insights along with Srinath Pamur, head of Enterprise Content Management consulting. This session attracted a packed room. We shared our approach, right from defining a new program model to suit business objectives; choosing the right product through setting up governance; and laying the foundation to enhance end user experience.
- Connecting content with context for enterprise efficiency and compliance
Pradeep Kamalanabhan, our presales head for Europe and I shared our experience about how the Extended ECM solution along with OpenText Records and Physical Records Management helped in the deep integration of content with business processes and enabled meeting regulatory requirements and cost savings for a major APAC utility customer.
Three members of our team had the opportunity to discuss their opinion on information management trends and provide feedback about the event through OpenText interviews. We also shared our digital transformation best practices contributing to a book that is proposed to be authored by the OpenText CEO. We had more than 20 client meetings over the three days. We also met with OpenText senior leadership over various occasions such as the elite sponsor lunch, CEO meet, CMO meet, Engineering leadership meet, and various geo sales and technology meets. Points of discussion included go to market strategy, specialization and certification, deal registration, with action items as key takeaways. All in all OpenText EnterpriseWorld 2017 was a very enriching experience.
