As the CTO of TCS’ Consumer Goods and Distribution unit, Subramanian Bala leads its innovation agenda to drive new business models and propositions to customers. He is responsible for IP creation and product management for the unit’s offerings, research and innovation initiatives with focus on emerging technologies disrupting the industry and incubating them. He drives industry offerings and development of platforms across the value chain to enable business model transformation by leveraging ecosystems for CPG and distribution customers and propel non-linear growth.
Subbu also drives branding and positioning initiatives for the unit by defining the brand architecture, creating and publishing points of view (PoVs) on the latest trends, and enriching the TCS CPG brand by positioning the unit’s capabilities strongly through analyst interactions.
He also promotes and practices thought leadership by being an active member on various panels such as the MIT Technology Review Global Panel, contributing to research initiatives in a wide range of technology areas such as AI, cloud, robotics, IoT, and 5G and their impact on evolving industry landscape. He is also a member of ‘AI Parivartaks’–a voluntary initiative at NASSCOM to help India realize its AI goals.
