TCS helps IOM experience certainty through successful ERP implementation
TCS awarded contract for global roll-out across 140 location
Zurich, Switzerland – June 19, 2008 — Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm today announced the successful international implementation of an integrated financial management system for the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
TCS has helped IOM roll-out its financial management system based in mySAP ECC 6.0 to the first six locations - Geneva, Manila, Moscow, Skopje, Sarajevo and Budapest - according to the original project schedule and budget.
Subsequently, TCS was awarded the contract for full global roll out of SAP Financials across 140 IOM locations worldwide. To date, another 22 IOM missions went live on schedule between April 2 and June 4 2008. The missions were Bangkok, Canberra, Panama, Phnom Penh, Kuala Lumpur, Papua New Guinea, Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Switzerland, Netherlands, UK, Italy, Albania, Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Kosovo, Bulgaria and Slovakia.
“The implementation of such a complex critical financial management system within deadline and within ascribed funding is a major achievement - all too rare in this industry - and provides a testament to a strategic IOM and TCS partnership including TCS’s global presence and the commitment to succeed,” said Ovais Sarmad, Director of Resource Management, IOM.
Girish Ramachandran, Director, TCS Europe said: “This go-live of the first six missions and our subsequent appointment for IOM’s full global roll out, comprehensively demonstrates TCS’ capacity to deliver highly customised solutions to global organisations. Building on our established expertise within an SAP environment, the project is also about providing IOM (and, ultimately, its key stakeholders), with “certainty” in terms of deadlines and ascribed funding.”
Tanmoy Chakrabarty, Vice President and Head, Government Industry Solutions Unit said: “The scale and complexity of this implementation coupled with the tight timeframe, underscores TCS’s extensive domain and delivery capabilities that bring certainty to our projects and quantum benefits to our clients.”
Leveraging TCS’s Global Delivery Model, the SAP-based Mission-Critical solution provides a comprehensive suite for reporting, management and planning covering the IOM’s procurement, treasury, financial/grant reporting, donor reporting and travel management functions worldwide. The system is designed to support IOM’s commitment to accountability and transparency vis-à-vis its member states, donors and other stakeholders across the globe. It will also improve reporting times and support the adoption of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) in IOM.
