The TCS Makers Club is helping address South Africa’s youth unemployment and digital skills gap by equipping young people with future-ready technology skills. With youth unemployment at 32.9% in early 2025 and widespread skills shortages across Africa, the initiative focuses on preparing graduates for the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
The initiative prioritises innovation and inclusion, drawing participants from diverse and underrepresented communities, including women, people with disabilities, and marginalised backgrounds. Participants receive practical training in emerging technologies such as IoT, robotics, and AI, with an emphasis on real-world problem-solving rather than theoretical learning. The programme aims to build a pipeline of skilled tech talent while fostering innovation and creativity, enabling the youth to develop solutions relevant to South Africa’s growing digital economy. This program encourages skill development and youth empowerment like never before.
