Founded in 1884, M&S has grown from a single market stall to a major British multinational retailer. With over 83 thousand employees and more than 1,330 stores worldwide, the company serves 33 million retail customers.
M&S needed an HCM transformation aligned to the company’s strategic HR business and IT vision. This required an upgrade of their existing HR operations to Oracle PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 that could not only offer its employees a dynamic HR portal and an improved user experience, but also achieve company’s business goals. A number of new HR features and enhancements were implemented to allow the company to reduce costs and drive efficiency in their HCM operations.
TCS implemented a dynamic HR portal called the PeopleSoft Interaction Hub that enabled employees with integrated HR applications and easy access to accurate data and reporting features. IT infrastructure was improved by moving the current SQL server to a more robust Oracle database. With a transformed HCM system, M&S was able to reduce total cost of ownership for applications, enhance business with faster and efficient HR operations and improved processing which resulted in giving the back office more flexibility for their data processing and entry.
