TCS Helps the Ministry of Education, KSA, Transform its IT Operations through an Oracle ERP Implementation

In this video, senior executives of the Ministry of Education (MoE), Saudi Arabia, describe how TCS has done a great job in implementing Oracle ERP for its “Finance and Administrative Resource Information System” (FARIS) to replace its aging legacy systems.

The MoE is among the most important ministries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as it intends to lead the social and cultural change through providing most relevant knowledge to its citizens through 33.000+ schools. It employs around 650,000 employees including around 500,000 teachers to educate more than 5 million students. MOE’s vast size and spread presented a big challenge.

Therefore, it selected TCS to deliver FARIS, an Oracle ERP implementation project for the largest payroll processing system in the entire Middle East and Africa. TCS with its domain knowledge, flexibility and hard work helped MOE implement this project and successfully achieve its business objectives and goals.  The quality of this implementation was also acknowledged by Oracle.

Speakers:

  • Dr. Jarallah Saleh AlGhamdi, CIO & General Supervsior, National Center for Education Information, MoE
  • Hossam N Cabbani, Project Director, FARIS Project, MoE

Experience Results
The FARIS project began in March 2010 and within a year and a half, the SCM and finance modules went live for its pilot sites. By the end of 2011, the entire payroll for 650,000+ employees also went live, making it the largest ERP implementation in the Middle-East region and the fifth largest in the world.

Dr. Jarallah Saleh AlGhamdi acknowledges that TCS helped immensely, with all the budgeting and finances for the last year having been via the FARIS ERP system. “The quality of the work has improved a great deal. Many of the transactions, which were taking more than a week are now done within a few minutes.”

Hossam N Cabbani agrees, “The quality of deliverables delivered by the team, specially TCS, and the quality process followed in this regard also helps us assure the achievement of the project objectives and benefits up to the maximum level.”

Experience Partnership
The MoE found TCS very cooperative and flexible to its project needs, helping it get what it needed TCS to deliver. “TCS was very flexible in accepting the user requirement, working to improve the quality of the project and the quality of the product from day one – whether it is in the analysis process or in the CRPs or the user acceptance testing or the final delivery and corrections of anything that arise after the delivery date,” remarks Dr. Jarallah.

Experience Leadership
This project is a case of perfect partnership where TCS, a leader in software implementation along with the MoE, the leader in driving educational transformation in Saudi Arabia, are jointly able to deliver a quality solution.

Dr. Jarallah comments, “This is something that we are really proud of - the size of this project that uses the Oracle eBusiness suite for the total ERP solution. We are by far the largest in the Middle East and Africa, and we are among the fifth largest in the world.”
