Telekom Infra, a 100% Deutsche Telekom-owned tower company, was carved out from T-Mobile in the Netherlands in 2018. Telekom Infra had been managing over 5,000 sites including 3,200 fully owned mobile sites and was the largest passive infrastructure provider in the country delivering 4G- and 5G-ready sites. The company had to establish itself as an independent entity with business and technological levers to streamline and future-proof its operations. In January 2021, the parent company Deutsche Telekom announced the merger of Telekom Infra with Cellnex to form an independently-managed tower company called Cellnex NL.
We supported by creating the strategic business models for the new TowerCo in consultation with multiple business units. TCS was instrumental in stabilizing Telekom Infra's operations, right from defining pricing strategies, operational models, and business processes to roll out SAP S/4 HANA. Given the tight timeline of the separation, TCS worked closely with key stakeholders to ensure business continuity and set up new IT systems, all within six months and made the successful market launch possible on March 1, 2020.
Considering the diverse aspects that had to be taken care of, TCS took a comprehensive approach, where:
TCS defined and developed an enterprise architecture, which included a comprehensive data and analytics roadmap. As the first step toward putting in place data-led operations for Telekom Infra, it identified key performance indicators across all functions and processes, with the capability to generate daily reports, for improved visibility.
As the strategic partner for Telekom Infra during the company’s transition phase, TCS leveraged its extensive industry experience and technology expertise gained by working with global telco operators and independent tower entities.
