Toward a data-driven, digital-first university

Data and analytics have revolutionized multiple industries by transforming extensive raw data into valuable insights.

However, the lack of proper data analysis restricts organizations from making data-driven decisions and developing strategies informed by analytics.

The education sector is no exception, and data analytics is rapidly changing how educational institutions operate. Institutions must undergo large-scale digital transformation, democratize institutional data, and improve the end-to-end learner journey.

Recognizing this, Heriot-Watt, a specialist university in Edinburgh, sought to build a solution to drive better use of institutional data with a long-term objective to enable data-driven decisions through ready access to analytics and insights.

TCS addressed the institution's data and insights platform requirements, helping build a solution to centralize data from different sources onto Microsoft Azure cloud analytics, generate dashboards, and provide actionable insights. This allows decision-makers to easily access the information they need transparently and intuitively and make more data-driven decisions with a strong focus on the student experience.

This collaboration with TCS is not a standard client-customer relationship, but a strategic one where both the organizations work hand-in-hand to collaborate on research, co-innovation, and exchange of ideas.
