Watch this video to hear Prof Robin Doss, Director, Deakin Cyber Research and Innovation Centre, Deakin University talk about TCS’ and Deakin’s shared vision of quantum-enabled cyber defence, and how TCS is helping Deakin University revolutionise cyber defence through the support of Australia Economic Acceleration (AEA) program.
Deakin University is a public research university in Victoria, Australia, established in 1974. It is an internationally recognized institution, consistently ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide. The university focuses on real-world impact through industry-connected, career-focused education, with a strong emphasis on research that addresses contemporary global challenges.
TCS and Deakin share the vision of solving problems that have significant impact on society and aligned with technology and innovation. They were both founding partners of the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre (CSCRC) – Australia’s largest ever investment in Cyber Security research & innovation.
By partnering with TCS, Deakin University has benefited from access to TCS’s strong R&I expertise, real-world problems, and operational aspects, and accelerated the translation of research into practice. This collaboration has not only advanced Deakin's research capabilities and success in securing major research funding but also demonstrates how industry–academic partnerships can accelerate the growth of academic research more broadly - creating knowledge, talent, and innovation that benefits society.
The innovations developed through this partnership strengthen Australia’s cybersecurity and position the nation as a global leader, ensuring a safer, more resilient digital world for everyone. The collaboration with Deakin university in building security solutions for critical infrastructure security problems has led to patents, new research directions as well as adoption and integration of the results into TCS’ own industrial IoT platforms for smooth realization and field deployments.
Deakin University and TCS were recently awarded an Australia’s Economic Accelerator (AEA) Ignite grant of close to $500,000 in the Enabling capabilities priority area of Quantum for demonstrating proof of concept in quantum automation for cyber defence, which is a testament of the disruptive work done as part of this partnership.
Swipe LeftSwipe RightI think the best thing about partnering with TCS has really been that shared ambition to create impact from the research we do. It is about benefitting society at large and doing so with technology and innovation. I feel the future looks bright for this partnership.
