New Tax Revenue and License Management System Enhances Business Functionality, Supports Taxpayer-friendly Services and Simplifies Tax Administration
Mumbai, India, September 9, 2008: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: TCS.BO, NSE: TCS.NS), a leading global IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm, today announced that the City of Tucson, Arizona has successfully implemented TCS Tax Mantra® for tax revenue and licensing management. A highly configurable system, Tax Mantra® streamlines the tax administration and collection process for the City of Tucson, leading to more efficient workflow.
Web-enabled and secure, Tax Mantra® is a complete, user-friendly tax administration solution with fully integrated processes. It replaces and modernizes the City of Tucson’s old mainframe system of disparate and disconnected legacy applications that required manual and redundant work processes. Crucial for a city that according to a 2006 US Census Bureau estimate has a downtown population of 518,956 and growing. The new system enables the City of Tucson to streamline the business process of collecting taxes, provide taxpayer friendly services via the Web and integrate various departments to enable a paperless office.
Business owners in Tucson are now able to file tax returns and make payments through Tucson Tax and License Online. Filed tax returns and payments are transmitted overnight into the system and made available to City officials, enabling them to answer and resolve customer questions immediately. Additionally, Tax Mantra® has helped decrease the preparation time of a single sales tax audit packet by up to 4 hours. The City of Tucson also expects Tax Mantra® to help reduce the time it takes to issue a license from as long as 2 months to no more than 2 weeks.
