  • Industry-academic alliance to upgrade graduate employability skills in the Philippines
  • New digital courses, curriculum revamp to be key features of up-skilling plan
  • Academic outreach expands to more students, faculty and professionals

MANILA | MUMBAI, October 25, 2017: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, has signed a pact with National University in the Philippines to launch a comprehensive, long term plan to enhance the skills-readiness of university graduates for the job market.

Through new digital courses, updated curriculum, faculty training, workshops and internships, nearly 5000 students enrolled at National University will now have access to new skills and training relevant to the IT/ITeS (IT Enabled Services) industry. The new alliance is part of the TCS Academic Interface Programme (AIP) to foster collaboration, learning and training in institutes of higher education, leading to a win-win situation for both industry and academe.

To commemorate the alliance, TCS Philippines Country Manager, Vikram Singh and Human Resources Head, Arijit Roy signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National University President, Teddy Ocampo at a signing ceremony held at the TCS office in Bonifacio Global City.

On its 117th year, National University continues to make a difference as it embarks on the new era of providing quality education that is suited to the ever changing requirements of the globalized world. National University believes in the significance of industry-academic partnership that bridges gaps, ensures relevance and establishes long term relationships with lifelong learning at its core,” said Teddy Ocampo, President of National University.

TCS has planned to launch a slew of new courses and training for students at National University. Amongst the first to be implemented will be a customized Digital Marketing course to train students in new age marketing campaigns, online branding, product positioning website creation, search engine optimization and content development. The course with an inaugural batch of 40 students is slated for roll-out in November 2017.

“There is a huge demand and supply gap in the IT/ITeS industry for talent. TCS has been at the forefront of developing specialized, value-added courses to integrate up-to-date and relevant knowledge into the business curriculum of colleges and universities. The academic tie-up with National University is part of an ongoing endeavor at TCS to accelerate the technical and business skills for a future-ready workforce,” said Vikram Singh, TCS Philippines Country Manager.
