Mumbai, July 29, 2014: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, announced that its customer, CUSSCO, a co-operative venture founded by Scotwest Credit Union & Capital Credit Union in Scotland, is celebrating two years of strategic IT transformation leveraging the TCS BaNCS universal financial services platform.
When credit unions in the region were looking for a modern core banking platform to help them become more agile, competitive and deliver greater value to their members, CUSSCO embarked on a transformation project involving a modern, digital solution delivered via a shared services model.

The deployment involved a complete IT systems replacement allied with significant changes in workflows and processes, enabling rapid launch of new products, automated processes and full digital access that has helped us reduce operating costs to a great extent. We currently have 7,000+ members who use the online banking channel and with 35% of loan applications arriving through our website, since the solution went operational. This has enabled us to divert previously allocated resources from this function to other areas and better serve our members.”

TCS BaNCS deployed its modular, easily configurable, integrated solution at CUSSCO, thereby, increasing speed to market in launching attractive products and enhancing customer experience. The system provides seamless online access for CUSSCO members, enabling them to view and transact on their accounts on a real-time basis. All solutions offered are integrated seamlessly to process online requests from members 24/7, with browser-based user interfaces facilitating access anywhere, anytime. TCS and CUSSCO are at present working together to further enhance member experience by introducing mobile banking.
With this deployment, the credit unions have been able to expand and serve a larger and diverse customer base through modern features such as quick member on-boarding, time processing and enhanced scalability to meet the future demands of the market. CUSSCO has not only realized cost savings with these capabilities but also has taken the first landmark move of creating a delivery vehicle through the implementation of TCS BaNCS to help gain a competitive edge in the market. With the benefits that CUSSCO has achieved, TCS BaNCS has proven to be a solution that can provide the much necessary fillip to the UK credit union market.

As part of their cooperative ethos, Scotwest Credit Union & Capital Credit Union formed CUSSCO to deploy and deliver TCS BaNCS from TCS Financial Solutions. The CUSSCO secondary cooperative allowed for a single contractual framework and an overall implementation, meaning that both credit unions reduced their costs and benefited from collaborative thinking on system developments. The key deliverables from CUSSCO were the development of the dividend and payroll deduction facilities within the off-the-shelf solution. Now that these are in place, other credit unions can benefit from CUSSCO’s ground breaking work.
