Ansh Arora and Pranav Dhar from DPS Noida, for the second time in a row walked away with the Championship title. They won themselves ` 150,000 worth e wallet, coveted trophy and Gold medals at the national finals of TCS IT Wiz, the biggest inter-school IT quiz in India. The Finals witnessed a high voltage fight between the Noida and Vadodara teams. Sujay Nigam and Sachin Agarwal from Navrachan school who finished Runner Up won silver medals, ` 100,000 worth e-vouchers and trophy for the school.

The National finals witnessed a strongly contested participation from six outstanding teams drawn from 2 semifinals from 12 cities across India battling it out for the championship title. The National finals of TCS IT WIZ 2017 was held in Mumbai on December 10, 2017 at Taj Lands End, was organised by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions. For the first time in the history of Indian quizzing, TCS IT Wiz National Finals introduced “real-time scoring,” which helped the audience to keep a track of the close competition.

The TCS IT Wiz 2017 regional editions were held this year between August – November across 12 locations in India- Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Pune. The competition this year, witnessed participation from over 13,000 students of 8-12 from 1,213 schools across India at the regional level. The 12 winning teams from each of these 12 locations contested their way through two rounds of semi–finals consisting of 6 teams each to reach the National finals. The following six teams made it to the National finals:

Sujay Nigam and Sachin Agarwal from Navrachana School, fought brilliantly against the defending champion team of DPS, Noida to secure the Runner up place. All the finalists were rewarded with ` 5000 worth e vouchers for online shopping. The winning teams received their prizes from the guest of honour, Rajesh Gopinathan, CEO & MD, TCS. The teams also had an opportunity to interact with the CEO.

The finale was hosted by noted quizmaster Giri 'Pickbrain' Balasubramanium, who presented the quiz through gamification rounds, developed by using animation software that kept the audience and the teams at the edge of their seats. The questions for the quiz, were well-researched and included 5 rounds - ‘Automation, Contextual Knowledge, @TCS, Machine Learning and Agile. The Quiz was hosted by noted quizmaster ‘Pickbrain” Giri Balasumbramaniam.

The Quiz mainly focused on:
• Applications of Information Technology across various sectors and aspects, including technology environment, people, new trends and legends.
• Emerging areas such as cloud computing, telecom, biometrics, robotics, world of Internet, unique web sites, IT buzzwords and acronyms.
• Areas where IT has made an impact - education, entertainment, books, multimedia, music, movies, internet, banking, advertising, sports, gaming, social media and world of mobiles.
• IT Personalities – Global, national and local, brands of IT and communication companies, software products and brands, the history of IT as well as its humorous side of Information Technology.

Social Media Highlights

• Total tweets done with the hashtag #TCSITWiz from August 1st to December 5th 2017 - 1,41,560 (grown by 4.17%)
• Total Tweets received during the quiz - 1,39,693 (grown by 57.03%)
• Indore with 35,272 tweets and Kolkata with 31,860 emerged as the top 2 cities.
• 5% of tweets from Desktop and 83% from Mobile
• 15.66% increase in the number of followers on Twitter (From 8315 to 9617)
• 1.22% organic increase in the number of likes on Facebook (From 45114 to 45666)
• #TCSITWiz trended locally during Mumbai and Chennai regionals
• The keyword ‘TCS IT Wiz’ trended in Mumbai and India during Mumbai regionals
• Tweeporting: There was a Twitter contest during the National finals and the top 5 highest tweets won prizes for the “best tweet of the day.” The national finals witnessed as many as 8286 tweets.
