Overview
VIAVI Solutions wanted to remodel its 5G open radio access network (O-RAN) test solutions to shorten the time to market.
VIAVI Solutions, a market leader in network equipment test and assurance, wanted to enable comprehensive testing of next-generation disaggregated 5G radio access network (RAN) products for operational ease and enhanced customer experience.
TCS, their strategic partner of over 25 years, used its deep knowledge of the customer’s ecosystem to facilitate the launch of a future-ready 5G O-RAN test and measurement solution, building on VIAVI’s industry leading TM500 Network Tester and TeraVM Core Tester product families.
Challenge
VIAVI wanted to build test, measurement, and assurance solutions for seamless interoperability.
The radio access network (RAN) and the core network make up the wireless network through which telecom companies provide services. Tethered to the network, RAN enables network on cellular devices. However, due to its proprietary hardware and software interfaces, traditional RAN has limited interoperability. In an open RAN architecture, the RAN is disaggregated into separate components, creating an open source, flexible, and multi-vendor ecosystem that enables innovation.
VIAVI wanted to develop a one-of-its-kind open RAN test solution for development and performance testing of next-generation disaggregated 5G RAN products to enable network equipment manufacturers and others to launch innovations faster.
Solution
VIAVI and TCS co-created a future-ready, intuitive solution.
Co-innovating with its partner of over two decades, VIAVI built a 5G O-RAN solution for test verification and assurance, enabling device manufacturers with 5G innovations to drastically reduce their time to market.
The end-to-end test framework solution:
- allows interoperability testing of O-RAN devices
- is intuitive and platform-agnostic
- simplifies testing operations and reimagines the user experience for system testers, field engineers, and technology partners
- can customize test suites as per user requirements
Outcome
TCS’ solution helped VIAVI cater to a more diverse market.
With its strong product engineering capabilities and deep domain knowledge, TCS helped VIAVI implement a robust 5G test and validation solution, accelerating product journey from the lab to the field, along with ensuring quality.
This location-agnostic, agile, and scalable model has enhanced customer experience, reimagined service delivery, and enabled the launch of innovations, while ensuring regulatory compliance.
