The volume problem
SAP was looking for an agile response to the rising number of cloud deals.
In recent years, many organizations have pursued an increasing number of configurable cloud component deals. To keep up with the demand, enterprises have had to reduce manual activity and scale and automate processes for order management, master data maintenance, financial reporting, and more. So, how did SAP address these requirements?
In automation lies the answer
TCS helped SAP set up a center of excellence to automate processes and support business needs.
As part of a co-innovation initiative, TCS and SAP established a center of excellence (CoE) for the SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation* (RPA) platform, which uses artificial intelligence, application programming interfaces, metadata, and machine learning to improve bots. The CoE provides the expertise needed to execute key automation projects.
The CoE has reduced the human touchpoints needed to process the high volumes of cloud deals. The strategic deployment of bots has automated multiple complicated steps and functions in areas like presales, bad debt provisioning, bank reconciliation, and procurement.
Further, the CoE governs automation processes, starting with assessing the best use cases and continuing with intelligent automation lifecycle management. Validation, prioritization, development, and maintenance of automation solutions are all focus areas of the CoE, alongside DevOps delivery and constant innovation. The CoE enables SAP’s lines of business to employ automation solutions independently, meet customer expectations, and boost productivity. With automation already built into SAP’s culture, scaling up processes using the SAP Intelligent RPA platform is easy.
*SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation uses intelligent bots to automate repetitive manual processes. With the robotic process automation layer of SAP’s Business Technology Platform, resources can be directed to high-value activities and processes.

The CoE automated business processes efficiently and built best practices in automation governance, tools, and resources. This allows subject matter experts to focus on higher-value activities.
