It’s an incredible feeling to run past the Cutty Sark and across Tower Bridge.
The TCS-developed London Marathon app helps ensure your friends and family can share the experience by tracking you to the finish line.
This digital innovation is a crucial tool for spectators and for you as a runner. If you’re taking part in the event, you can use the app to record your progress, use the 'Me tab' to track yourself and compare your run against other runners, and take selfies to post on your social media. Whether you’re running in-person or running MyWay (virtual event), you can find your participant details, expert tips and advice, plus important information about the TCS London Marathon Running Show.
We first developed the TCS London Marathon Official App in 2016. When the virtual marathon was introduced in 2020, we updated it to support the new event. The 2026 edition of the TCS London Marathon app was downloaded an incredible 796,700+ times.
This year the app is even bigger and better than before, with new features to enhance the experience for runners and spectators.
We were also excited to be bringing the TCS Mini London Marathon into the app once again.
Over 19,500 children and young people ran, walked, or wheeled the one mile or 2.6K course the day before the marathon. Users of the app were able to select the event they wanted to track from the home screen.
Spectators were able to track the TCS Mini London Marathon participants on the app by entering their bib number. To protect the identity of the young people, spectators were only able to add the name of the participants they are following on their personal device, and these names were not searchable.
As in the previous years, TCS donated £10 per finisher to the schools taking part in the TCS Mini London Marathon, which they can spend on PE or IT equipment. So, the app will be a great way to tally up the number of finishers!
It will also be a great way to track runners in the TCS Mini London Marathon championships. This is where the UK’s most promising young athletes will compete against the best new talent in British road running along the 2.6K route.
Bringing the TCS Mini Marathon into the app just shows how important the events are, and we hope it will make the experience for participants and spectators even more special.
The TCS London Marathon is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet.
Since it began in 1981, participants have raised £1.4 billion for good causes. To help raise even more for charity, you can now link your Enthuse fundraising page directly to your profile on the app. The ‘Donate Now’ button makes it much easier for spectators, and those following your progress on the app from home, to donate directly to your page. This great feature helped boost marathon fundraising efforts on the day, and participants were able to quickly see their current total when they cross the finish line.
When the going gets tough, a little support from friends and family can go a long way.
That’s why the TCS MarathonBoost function of the app is so important, and the feature was back for 2026. Loved ones could send a motivational message to the participants through the app, and TCS MarathonBoost messages were also emailed to them after the event so they can add them to their cherished memories from the day. Some messages were also shown on the big screen at the halfway point and on the finish gantry on The Mall. They were lucky enough to spot one of theirs as they approached these points. In 2026, 597,882 TCS MarathonBoost messages were submitted through the app.
TCS first developed the TCS London Marathon Official App in 2016. Following the pandemic in 2020, the app was refashioned to support the first virtually held marathon.
It brought together 38,000 people from across the globe as they competed remotely and got the marathon a Guinness World Records title for ‘Most users to run a remote marathon in 24 hours’. The 2026 edition of the TCS London Marathon app (downloaded 796,000 times) – and the marathon itself – was no different. Every participant, virtual or in-person, was in the running (quite literally!) for a medal.
For the thousands of people participating in the TCS London Marathon MyWay virtual race, the app has plenty to offer. It provides the option to complete a practice 5k run, ensuring the full race goes as smoothly as possible.
