Invest India wanted a centralized portal to manage the National Infrastructure Pipeline.
The mascot of India’s growth story, Invest India was set up in 2009 as a non-profit venture under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India (GoI). As the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of India, it is the first point of contact for global investors.
In keeping with the GoI's broader vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Invest India has several programs running across sectors, states, and schemes and plays a multi-faceted role in making India an attractive investment destination.
Invest India manages the India Investment Grid (IIG)—India’s first freely searchable, opportunity discovery platform—that helps directly connect global investors and Indian promoters. The agency wanted to build an exclusive showcase for the newly launched National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) – a GoI initiative to provide world-class infrastructure in India – on the IIG portal. Such a portal would be the first consolidated repository of all infrastructure projects in India, allowing central tracking of various projects while providing complete visibility and transparency to promoters and investors.
TCS implements DigiGOV™ based portal with intuitive UI and robust reporting mechanism.
Leveraging its DigiGOV suite, TCS has developed an interactive and dynamic platform for the NIP initiative.
The three tenets of TCS’ solution are: functional, reporting framework, and user interface. For the core functionality of the portal, a host of features, such as optimized queries, lazy loading, REST APIs, Google analytics and dashboards, as well as natural language processing (NLP) based Solr search, have been built in.
To drive accurate and timely reporting, the platform enables project promoters to feed in data pertaining to infrastructure projects from across the country, in real time. The platform uses optimized queries to make it convenient for users to fetch information and build customized dashboards, and the reporting module is access controlled to ensure the information is made available only to intended recipients.
On the user interface aspect, TCS has introduced sophisticated UI features to transform the user experience and enhance the portal’s usability. Backed by responsive design, the portal renders seamlessly across screens of varying sizes. Along with improving the UI architecture and navigation flow, TCS improved the web pages for search engine optimization (SEO).

Equipped with a single-view dashboard for opportunities across states, sectors, and schemes, the portal has infused uniformity and responsiveness in operations. By virtue of enhanced transparency that the portal provides across projects, fraudulent transactions have been notably reduced. With nearly half a decade of working on several strategic projects for Invest India, TCS has further strengthened the partnership by delivering this world-class portal for the NIP initiative.
