TCS implements India’s largest healthcare platform in Tamil Nadu.
Challenge
Tamil Nadu needed to ensure timely availability of critical health data at hospitals.
The Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project (TNHSP), an initiative of the State Government of Tamil Nadu in partnership with the World Bank, aimed to provide quality, equitable health care services to all its citizens, particularly the poor and underprivileged. To provide timely and critical information across the health chain, they needed to improve their ability to collect, store, and accurately analyze health data across the state.
TCS develops highly scalable reporting platform and hospital management system.
TCS developed a centralized, Web-based Management Information System (MIS) and easy-to-use Hospital Management System (HMS) for TNHSP. HMS covered all key functionalities and administrative processes within the hospital. MIS provided an online reporting system. The solution is scalable and can handle 200,000+ patient registrations and 7 million transactions daily. TCS solution has user-friendly screens and standardized reports to enable accurate reporting. We adopted a highly parameterized approach to capture data and simplify creation and online retrieval of patients’ Electronic Medical Records (EMRs). The solution is being extended to integrate Lab Information System (LIS) to process, store and manage data from all stages of medical processes and tests. Use of Picture Archiving and Communication (PACS) for short and long term storage, retrieval, management and presentation of medical images. Biometrics capturing of new born children in Government Hospitals ensures data is kept as a permanent electronic record. We are currently developing a Patient Satisfaction System to capture feedback and to provide patient-centric care.
Our solution can handle up to 7 million transactions per day.
