The new services will help semiconductor companies design faster and more powerful next-generation chips, supporting India’s push to become a global semiconductor hub
MUMBAI | INDIA, September 11, 2025: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS) a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, announced the launch of its Chiplet-based System Engineering Services, designed to help semiconductor companies push the boundaries of traditional chip design. By using chiplets (which are small integrated circuits that serve as building blocks of larger chips), TCS is enabling chipmakers to deliver faster, efficient, and more powerful processors at a time when global demand for advanced semiconductors is soaring.
The timing of this launch is significant for India. The country’s semiconductor market valued at $45–50 billion in 2024-2025, is projected to more than double to $100–110 billion by 2030. With government support through the ₹76,000 crore India Semiconductor Mission, the country is positioning itself as a major global hub for chip design and manufacturing. Already, India is home to 20% of the world’s chip design engineers, and leading global players are investing in manufacturing and assembly facilities. TCS’ new services are expected to strengthen this momentum by giving both Indian and international companies access to world-class expertise in chip-to-system engineering.
The semiconductor industry is at a turning point. Making chips smaller by shrinking transistors to fit more onto a large chip is no longer sufficient. To address these challenges, the industry is shifting toward chiplet-based design— where multiple smaller chips can be mixed and matched for different needs. This approach overcomes the bottlenecks of scaling and enables companies to speed up product launches and cut costs. With AI, cloud computing, smartphones, electric vehicles, and connected devices driving massive chip demand, this change in design strategy comes at a critical moment.
V Rajanna, President, Technology, Software and Services, TCS said, "Semiconductors are the foundational technology driving digital innovation and powering differentiated experiences. TCS Chiplet-based System Engineering services will help semiconductor enterprises accelerate chiplets tapeout driving flexibility, scalability and faster time to market. Our extensive investments in next-gen technologies, contextual knowledge of the semiconductor industry, and strong track record in execution make us the preferred partner to drive innovation at scale.”
In a recent project, TCS partnered with a leading North American semiconductor firm to simplify the process of combining different types of chips into one system, addressing the complexities of heterogenous device integration. By modernizing its design approach with chiplet-based methods, TCS is enabling the company to speed up delivery of industry-leading AI processors and bring them to the market faster.
TCS is at the forefront of Chiplet-based System Engineering Services, offering comprehensive design and verification of UCIeTM (Universal Chiplet Interconnect ExpressTM) and HBM (High Bandwidth Memory), both established industry standards. TCS also provides advanced package design services, including 2.5D and 3D interposers and multi-layer organic substrates – the materials that connect and support multi-chip packages. TCS empowers semiconductor clients to deliver next-generation multi-chip products with superior signal integrity, lower latency, and compact form factor. With over two decades of experience in the semiconductor industry and an extensive partner ecosystem, TCS has created a comprehensive portfolio of chip to system engineering services. The addition of TCS’ Chiplet-based System Engineering services aims to democratize the design of the next generation chips for customers.
For nearly six decades, TCS has played a pivotal role in driving India’s tech revolution, executing several nation-building programs, creating digital public infrastructure, transforming citizen services, and touching millions of lives. TCS works with several government ministries as a trusted partner. Nearly 7 out of 10 Indians benefit from TCS-supported services every day. From digitally enabling India’s leading stock exchanges, working with major financial institutions, to enhancing passport issuance systems, health insurance, pensions for defence personnel, and more, TCS delivers high-touch citizen-centric services to the last mile.
