This year marks the 14th year of TCS’ title sponsorship of the Amsterdam Marathon. Up to and including 2023 more than €4 million has been raised for pioneering cancer research and better treatment. The donations benefit the Amsterdam UMC cancer Center Amsterdam (CCA) through KWF (Dutch Cancer Society). Participants of the marathon, including around thousands of TCS customers, employees, and partners, do their bit for charity.’
TCS promotes a sustainable and healthy lifestyle and living environment for our employees, partners, and the communities in which we operate. With this in mind, we have been the main sponsor of the marathon in Amsterdam and several other world cities for many years.
The 2023 edition of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon raised a record amount of more than €1,1 million for the Amsterdam UMC Cancer Center Amsterdam (CCA). It includes money raised through voluntary donations from participating marathon runners and through fundraising by TCS teams of clients and business associates.
Raising the bar
This year, we aim for a new fundraising record for KWF. As in previous marathon editions, the money is relayed to the CCA for cancer research and cooperation with regional hospitals. Patients in those hospitals can now participate in the scientific research conducted at Amsterdam UMC. This benefits the patients and the research itself, ultimately accelerating the availability of new treatments.
TCS also partners with Running Blind by enabling visually impaired runners to participate in the marathon along with their running buddies. Running Blind aims to improve the quality of life of people with visual impairments. A great initiative that sets the bar high in promoting “inclusive sports”.
